Kendra Taylor, 29, was found injured Thursday in the 400 block of N. College Avenue passed away from her injuries and the Levelland Police Department is still investigating her death.
At 10:33 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the parking lot at 409 N. College Ave. in reference to an injured person.
Upon arrival, officers found a man cradling an injured woman in the parking lot. Taylor was breathing but unresponsive. She was transported by EMS to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.
A man at the scene indicated he had been driving a Silverado pickup truck, in which Taylor was a passenger, when the woman had jumped from the vehicle at 35 to 40 mph.
Police Chief Toney Cowan said an autopsy was performed Friday and preliminary results indicate Taylor passed away from injuries consistent with falling out of a moving vehicle.
“They were unable to determine if she was pushed or accidentally fell out,” Cowan said.
Cowan also said the investigation is ongoing and investigators were still interviewing subjects close to those involved and the incident itself.
“She’s a victim, whether it was self-inflicted or not,” Cowan said. “We owe it to her to find out the truth.”
The man who was driving the truck was not arrested, detained by officers, or taken into custody in anyway. The only meetings he has had with police have been consensual, Cowan said.
