Levelland police and the fire department were dispatched to the scene just after 5 p.m. Police said three people were transported to Covenant Hospital Levelland with non-life threatening injuries.
Following an on scene investigation, Taylor was arrested and charged with intoxication assault and felon in possession of a firearm.
The drivers of the cars involved in the accident were Stephanie Smith, 27; Cynthia Demel, 60; Carina Gonzalez, 27; and Trina Long, 41.
Police said several witnesses said Taylor failed to maintain his speed as he approached the intersection, eastbound on Highway 114. Taylor hit the first vehicle, driven by Smith; before continuing through the intersection until he struck the utility pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.
The accident is still under investigation and Taylor is being held at the Hockley County Jail on bonds totaling $10,000.
