Cochran County will hold a recount in two local elections, Monday, at 1:30 p.m., according to Cheryl Butler, Cochran County Elections Administrator.

In the election for county commissioner for Precinct 2, Matt D. Evans won 81 votes while Bruce Heflin, incumbent, earned 60 votes. If the recount does not change the results, there will be a runoff election between the two.

Bill Sutton earned 27 votes for county commissioner for Precinct 2.

There will also be a recount for the office of county commissioner for Precinct 4. Reynaldo Morin, incumbent, earned 43 votes while his challenger, Jake Timmons, garnered 41 votes. There could also be a runoff election for this seat depending on the recount.

There was a 26 percent voter turnout in Cochran County for the 2018 primary election, with 450 of the 1,715 registered voters in Cochran County showing up at the polls.
