The Levelland Lobos traveled to Clovis New Mexico last weekend for their bi-district series against the Bushland Falcons.

The Lobos season came to an end after being swept by the Falcons in two games.

In game one, the Lobos get off to a good start against the Falcons last Friday

The Lobos would got on the board early in the top of the first inning.

Lead off hitter Zack Estrada reached the bags on a Falcon error.

Tameron Duran’s sac. bunt advanced Estrada to second and into scoring position.

Nolberto Pena followed with an infield single to put runners on the corners with one out.

A Falcons error behind the plate allowed Estrada to steal home.

The Falcons were retired in order in the bottom half of the inning, and Levelland led 1-0 after one.

In the bottom of the second, the Falcons scored four runs to take the lead.

Bushland scored on a Levelland error and two RBI singles.

Bushland brought home one run in the third inning, and duplicated that same run total in the fourth inning.

At the end of the fourth inning, the Lobos trailed Bushland by five points, 6-1.

Levelland never found their rhythm on offense and the Falcons defeated Levelland in game one, 6-1.

The Lobos’ offense scored one run off of six hits and left five runners on the bags.

Zack Estrada finished the game 2-3 at the plate and scored once for Levelland.

Nolberto Pena finished the game 2-3 at the plate.

Nick Gerber and Jorge Mendiaz each finished the game 1-3 at the plate.

Nick Gerber took the loss as the Lobos starting pitcher.

Gerber lasted two innings last Friday. He walked four Falcons, struck out none, and allowed five runs.

Triston Montgomery came in as a relief pitcher for the Lobos in the third inning.

Montgomery pitched four innings. He gave up three hits and one run.

In game two on Saturday, Levelland continued to struggle on offense and the Falcons picked up the sweep with a 9-2 victory.

The Falcons’ offense got on a roll early and came out the starting block strong with eight runs in the first two innings of play.

The Lobos suddenly found themselves in an 8-0 hole at the end of the second inning.

No runs crossed the plate in the third inning.

Levelland managed to get on the board with a single run in the bottom of fourth inning.

Nick Gerber reached on a fielder’s choice.

Isiah Cortez and Jacob Ochoa followed with back-to-back walks to load the bases with one out.

Triston Montgomery hit a blooper to right field to score Gerber from third.

The bases remained with one out, but the runners were left stranded.

After four innings of play, Bushland led the Lobos, 8-1.

Levelland added a run to the board in the fifth

Tameron Duran led off the inning with a dinger and a standup double.

Gerber brought Duran home with an RBI single and cut the Lobos deficit to 8-2.

That was the Lobos final run of the game. Bushland put a run of the board in the top of the seventh and defeated Levelland, 9-2.

Jeremy Parsley was the losing pitcher. He gave eight runs, five hits and a walk.

Jorge Mendiaz pitched five innings as the Lobos relief pitcher.

He allowed one run, one hit, walked four batters and struck out three.

Levelland scored two runs off of five hits and had three errors.

The Lobos had 15 quality at bats and left seven runners stranded.

Nick Gerber and Triston Montgomery fueled the Lobos’ offense.

Gerber and Montgomery each finished the game 1-3 at the plate and had one RBI.

Damian Bordayo finished the game 1-3 at the plate.

Tameron Duran and Nolberto Pena each finished the game 1-4 at the plate.
