The Levelland Lobos will be playing in December for the first time since 1950 after their 53-22 win over Andrews at Lowrey Field Friday.

"Being able to play in December is an incredible feeling," said Levelland Head Coach Jared Sanderson. "Our kids worked really hard for this opportunity. Like said earlier, getting to play in December will be an incredible feeling."

The Lobos’ balanced offensive attack finished the game with 653 yards of total offense.

Chris Gerber carried the ball 21 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns.

Qualin Miller finished with nine carries for 66 yards and one touchdown.

Nick Gerber finished with one rushing touchdown.

Nick Gerber was 22-41 passing the ball for 365 yards and three touchdowns.

His new season total is 76 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Jeff Elliot reeled in seven catches for 170 yards and three touchdowns.

Kegan Dent had three receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown.

"We came out and played fast on both sides of the ball," said Sanderson Friday. "We were able to score early and get them off the field. Momentum was big for us tonight."

"Our defense came out and played great from the opening whistle. Andrews can score, and I our defense showed they were up to the task of slowing them down. I am proud of kids and their effort on defense," explained the coach.

The Lobos will now play Abilene Wylie in the 4A-1 Region One Championship next Friday.

Game place and time will be determined at a later date.

"We have talked about playing in San Angelo or Sweetwater, but nothing is set in stone yet. We plan to get it all figured out early next week," Sanderson concluded.
