Building permits jump in May

Building permits in the City of Levelland jumped by $1.5 million during the month of May.

The increase was due primarily to commercial roofing permits issued for county-owned properties. Ten commercial roofing permits were issued for $1,426,000. Six permits were issued for residential roofing at a cost of $49,589.

Five permits were issued for residential construction at a value of $28,575; one was issued for commercial construction valued at $22,000 and two were issued ror mobile homes valued at $12,500. Two  permits totalling $5,500 were issued for new fences. A single permit for a curb cut was issued for $15.

The city collected building fees totaling $569.25 for the 28 permits issued last month.

So far this year, 102 building permits have been issued including four for new homes, five for mobile homes, five for business projects, eight for dwelling improvements, five for business improvements and 75 for roofs.
