The Levelland school board picked a new head girls basketball coach at a special meeting Monday.
Clay Barnett, the girls basketball coach at Merkel ISD, was tapped for the position. He will also teach social studies.
He will begin his duties here on Aug. 19.
Barnett was one of five candidates who interviewed for the job.
He is a graduate of San Angelo State University.
Supt. Kelly Baggett said he would also like to assign Barnett duties as girls athletic coordinator.
That position will require Barnett to tackle such duties as assist in budget formations, assisg in recruiting, analyze students’ needs, assist in the enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct, assist in the planning and implementation of staff assignments and direct and manage our extracurricular activities.
‘I would like to do that,’ Baggett said.
Board Vice President Glen Smith said he agreed with the recommendation.
