Former youth minister pleads of porn charges

A former youth minister pleaded guilty Friday to a one- count indictment of the attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.

Trevor Jacob Fortner, 25, of Lubbock entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings in Lubbock, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The maximum penalty for the offense is 10 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime of supervised released.

However, according to plea documents filed in the case, Fortner and the government will make a non-binding recommendation to the court that a 48-month sentence is appropriate.

Cummings ordered a pre-sentence investigation report with a sentencing date to be set after completion of that report.

Fortner will remain on bond pending sentencing.
