The Levelland Economic Development Corporation on Friday approved a $419,300 expenditures budget for 2013-2014.
Board members adopted it following a budget workshop in which proposed expenditures were explained in detail.
The LEDC should end the current budget year, on Sept. 30, with a bank balance of $690,513. It should be $756,978 at the end of the 2013-2014 fiscal year.
Expenditures for the current budget year are estimated at $696,295.
Neither figure includes $324,000 each year for the LEDC’s bond payment on the Levelland Industrial Rail Park.
Shawn Kirkpatrick, director of economic development with the LEDC, recommended that the board increase funding for advertising from $32,000 this year to $36,000 in 2013-2014.
‘We’re going to charge up our marketing program a little bit,’ Kirkpatrick said. ‘We’re going to target plastics manufacturing that moves by rail.’
The adopted budget also calls for raising spending in Professional Services from $163,916 to $178,000.
