Wind, rains slam city

A thunderstorm packing lightning and high winds blasted Levelland late Wednesday afternoon, downing utility lines and causing other damage.

High winds picked up a horse shed outside the West Houston Street home of Rosa Casares and blew it over a fence. The shed traveled about 100 feet before ending up against an old rail car.

The family’s two horses were not injured.

Winds sheared utility line poles on West Houston Street and West Texas 114.

The Levelland Fire Department was advised that utility lines were also downed on West Ellis Street.
