LISD, other districts meet state standards

Levelland ISD and all other county school districts met the standard in the state’s new accountability ratings system.

The results released by the Texas Education Agency showed that nearly 93 percent of school districts and charter schools in the state achieved the Met standard rating.

‘A transition to a new accountability system comes with a great deal of uncertainty,’ said Commissioner of Education Michael Williams. ‘The 2013 ratings confirm that the vast majority of districts and campuses are meeting the state’s standards and providing a quality education for our students.’

The ratings were for more than 1,200 districts and charter schools, and more than 8,500 campuses.

They are based on a revised system that uses different indicators to provide greater detail on the performance of schools throughout the state. The performance index framework includes four areas.
