A former reserve sheriff’s deputy who was traveling to pick up a prisoner was apparently intoxicated when he rolled his pickup truck early this month near Bryan.
Tracy Lee Rodgers, 55, of Levelland suffered a gash to the head in the accident. He was taken to a hospital in Bryan where he was treated and released.
Rodgers, a reserve deputy with the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office, was driving to Huntsville to pick up a prisoner when he lost control of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup Aug. 4 in Robertston County.
The accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. on State Highway 7.
Rodgers was driving southeast when he crossed the roadway and hit a guardrail. He traveled back across the road, struck another guardrail and spun counterclockwise. The truck came to a stop on its wheels and in the northwest lane, a report said.
