Power company investing in future projects

Levelland’s power substation will be upgraded in the future, business leaders were told Thursday during a dinner hosted by Xcel Energy.

While the substation, an integral part of the area power infrastructure, is being upgraded, a brand-new mobile substation will be tied into the system to ensure electrical service is uninterrupted.

Rex Kirk, the new supervisor for Levelland, Littlefield and Muleshoe, advised the group about the project after being introduced at the end of the informative program.

Kirk has been with Xcel for 32 years; he and his wife are moving to Levelland from Lubbock. He was introduced by Steve Deaton, Xcel Community Service manager.

The meeting included presentations by Seth Thomason, Director of Business Customer Relations out of Amarillo and Jeff Stebbins, Xcel Energy Transmission engineer.

Wes Reeves, Xcel’s director of media relations, served as emcee for the informal gathering which was catered by Jeana’s Feedbag.
