Gary F. Lopez had a vehicle transmitter on him at the time of his arrest that was identified as one that had been in a vehicle which was stolen outside a Levelland home.
The trial of Lopez, who is charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, started Tuesday in 286th District Court.
The Levelland man was jailed Jan. 22, several days after police served a warrant for his arrest at an Avenue L home.
Police Detective Margo Ramirez said a vehicle transmitter found in Lopez’s pocket at the time of his arrest was identified by Whitney Houchin as the one missing from her sport utility vehicle.
‘She ID’d the transmitter,’ Ramirez said.
Houchin’s vehicle, a 2004 Kia Sorento, was stolen the night of Jan. 21-22, 2013.
