Resource officer now serving Ropes ISD

A new police officer, Ron Rincones, is now serving the community of Ropesville.

Rincones also has the distinction of being the first school resource officer to serve the Ropes Independent School District.

The father of two children says that it’s all about the safety students.

‘ I just want to make sure we can make the kids safer,’ he said.  ‘I want teachers and kids to know that safety comes with the resource officer.’

Supt. Gary Lehnen said he is pleased that Rincones is now walking the corridors of Ropes ISD.

‘We are extremely pleased to have Ron help us educate our children and protect our employees and students,’ Lehnen said.

The new officer will play a role in educating students about the law and responsibility, he added.

‘He’s young and has a good personality. We’re excited to have him,’ Lehnen said. ‘We may be the only six-man school district in the region to have a school resource officer.’
