A temporary restraining order was signed Thursday barring Mayor Waymon Jackson from attending closed session meetings of the Levelland Economic Development Corporation and its legal counsel.
An application for a temporary restraining order, and temporary and permanent injunctions, was filed in 286th District Court by Lubbock attorney Dustin Brooks.
Pat Phelan, 286th District Court judge, recused himself and the order was signed by District Judge Felix Klein of Littlefield.
The order also restrains Jackson from contacting the LEDC board, LEDC employees Shawn Kirkpatrick and Ellen Timian, and the Brooks Firm PLLC and its employees.
Jackson cannot make requests for attorney-client privileged information. He is also enjoined from ‘verbally or otherwise threatening plaintiffs’ settlement negotiations, legal representation, ownership or any other matter related to the plaintiffs’ water rights in the Levelland Industrial Rail Park.’
