County jailer arrested in Lubbock for drugs

A Hockley County jailer was arrested Monday for allegedly possessing drugs in Lubbock.

Jill DeLeon, 38, of Tahoka was arrested Monday afternoon for possession of hydrocodone, said Sheriff R.C. Cheek.

She was arrested at an undisclosed location.

‘We have very few details,’ Cheek said. ‘We don’t know where.’

He said he received a phone call from Lubbock Police Chief Roger Ellis about the arrest.

DeLeon has been employed as a jailer here since August 2009.

Cheek said a Sheriff’s Office employee would go to Lubbock to pick up DeLeon’s badge, ID card and other effects.

A report on the arrest was not available late Tuesday afternoon from the Lubbock Police Department.

He said a Sheriff’s Office employees are tested at random for drugs. Cheek said he receives a list of names from the courthouse every few months for testing.

The names are picked by Allied Compliance, the company that does drug testing for the county.
DeLeon passed her last drug test, which was conducted several months ago, Cheek said.
