Board OKs zone change

A zone change for a new apartment complex was approved Tuesday by the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment.

The board voted to change the zone from Single Family 1 to a Multi-3 Zone, said building official John Agnew.

It will impact nearly four acres of land south of the high school and just west of Alamo Road. The site is south of any houses in the area.

The ABO Land Co. LLC asked for the zone change. The developer is the same company that built the Deer Creek Apartments off West Ellis Street.

Construction of the 48-unit Rose Meadows Apartments could start in February, Agnew said.
Rentals will be based on family income.
