Action was tabled Thursday on rules of procedure that could restrict public commentary during city council meetings.
Councilman Larry Davidson said he had received numerous phone calls and text messages from people who are concerned about the way council meetings have been conducted.
‘I feel it is lacking in many way,’ Davidson said. ‘I feel it is a very vague proposal. I would like to make the motion to table it.’
Councilman Billy Youngblood seconded the motion and it passed on a vote of 4-0.
Davidson suggested that the council hold a work session to further discuss the proposals.
The council agreed and a work session was later scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday.
Raymon Jackson asked why the council had called a special meeting for Thursday, Oct. 31, and then canceled a regular Monday night meeting, replacing it with the work session.
‘Why schedule it and wait until Monday night?’ asked Jackson.
