Residents offer thanks at this time of year

Area residents are thankful for family, health, and the blessings God has bestowed on them.

Many paused to share their thoughts with staff writers this week.

Lucretia Thorpe will spend Thanksgiving Day at work  ñ  at the United Cotton Growers Gin in Arnett.

But she and her co-workers will take a break for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner  that gin manager Paul Wilson will provide.

‘We’re open all day,’ Thorpe said. ‘I’ll work seven to seven.’

Thorpe, who is in her third cotton harvest season with UCG, says she has much to be thankful for this year.

‘I’m thankful for my family and my health,’ said the Levelland woman, adding that she is blessed to be engaged to a wonderful man.

‘I found a very loving and caring man,’ Thorpe said.
