County Judge Larry Sprowls is running for a sixth term in office.
‘It’s been my pleasure to serve the citizens of Hockley County for 19 years,’ Sprowls said. ‘I hope to be able to continue for four more years.’
He took office in January 1995, after beating incumbent Don Avery at the polls.
Sprowls said the county’s finances have improved greatly in recent years.
‘I have seen Hockley County go from not doing well in the oil bust in the early nineties to today,’ he said. ‘Our county is more financially stable now than in any time in its history.’
The Mallet Event Center & Arena, which opened in January 2012, continues to be a great asset to the local economy, Sprowls said.
