Jean Elizabeth Hardin

Jean Elizabeth Hardin passed away November 24, 2013 at Covenant Palliative Care of Lubbock Covenant Hospital.
On November 26th, Jean had a graveside funeral in the City of Levelland Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin Mortuary of Lubbock.
She was born November 12, 1923, in Sydney, Australia. Jean had just celebrated her ninetieth birthday. Her philosophy for living such a long life: “That she was fortunate to be healthy, and to be happy each day of her life.” She was extremely happy when she met J. Rex Hardin during World War II in Australia. After the war, Rex returned to Lubbock, Texas. In 1947, Jean came to Lubbock to marry J. Rex Hardin. They were married March 19, 1947. 
On the second day in Lubbock, Jean saw snow for the first time in her life. On the day of her passing, her daughter told her it was snowing again, and it was time to go see Rex. At
that very moment, she went to sleep peacefully.
Her husband was Assistant Superintendent for LISD until his death in December, 1970.
Jean had been a housewife. She was a private, hardworking person that tried to be independent her entire life. The last thirty-one years of her life, she lived with her daughter. She will be greatly missed!
Jean Hardin is survived by Katherine Hardin-Rinne of Slaton and Deborah Walters Kennedy of Levelland. She has two grandsons, Bryan Franks of Victoria, Texas and Brandon Walters of Levelland. She also has two great-grandsons, Jordan Franks and Zachary Franks of Victoria, Texas.
