Sales tax payments were up for most taxing entities, including Levelland, this month, according to the state.
They were also higher for the 2013 calendar year for the city than in 2012.
The Texas Comptroller’s Office sent $579.6 million to all taxing entities that collect sales tax, which was up 5.0 percent when compared to December 2012.
The increase was moderate, said Texas Comptroller Susan Combs.
‘State sales tax revenue continues to grow at a moderate pace as expected,’ Combs said. ‘Sales tax collections have increased for 44 consecutive months. Revenue from sectors such as wholesale trade, service industries and restaurants contributed to the most recent increase.’
