Ropesville police arrest man for burglary, assault, drugs

A man who stole two guns and then attempted to sexually assault a woman was arrested Monday by Ropesville police.

Ropesville Police Chief Ashley Ramirez arrested the man at gunpoint after receiving a call about a disturbance involving a person who was high or intoxicated.

Jonathan Lee Escobedo, 26,  of Ropesville was taken into custody at a city residence.

Assisting Ramirez was Rob Rincones, the school resource officer with the Ropes Independent School District.

The events leading to the arrest started after a county resident called authorities and told them that two guns had been stolen from a home.

Authorities later got a call about a man threatening people with a gun and an attempted sexual assault.
