The Levelland City Council adopted new rules for addressing issues at their meetings but Mayor Waymon Jackson vowed that they are not needed and that he will be the first to violate them.
The rules were adopted Thursday during a regular meeting of the council.
The rules were drafted during a council work session held Nov. 4th and attempt to make the meetings more orderly and to eliminate outbursts from the audience during council meetings.
‘I think this is totally unnecessary,’ Jackson told the council as the topic was introduced at the conclusion of the meeting.
‘We’re not having no problem now. Why do we need to make rules…I promised the citizens they can speak at council meetings,’ he stated.
