A city board agreed Thursday to apply for a grant for a rail improvement project and to seek a lease agreement for the use of another property at Levelland Industrial Rail Park.
The Levelland Economic Development Corporation took those actions after meeting in closed session.
The LEDC is applying for a $521,900 Texas Capital Fund Grant to build 1,200 feet of new rail lines in the Levelland Industrial Rail Park.
The project would include the installation of two parallel 600-foot rail spurs, switches, roadbed and other facilities on Lot #1 of the Rail Park.
If there were any overruns or ineligible expenses, the LEDC would pay for those with sales tax revenue that it collects each month.
