A Hockley County Grand Jury began a new term Wednesday and a Cochran County Grand Jury was scheduled to meet Thursday.
Since it is a new term, new juror pools were called in both counties.
Since there are no strikes for serving on a grand jury, the first 12 qualified jurors plus two alternates are selected. They will serve for six months and will decide if there is enough evidence in felony cases to warrant trials.
Here in Hockley County, the Grand Jury was expected to hear evidence on approximately 29 cases. Results would be available early Thursday.
In Cochran County, around 10 cases were expected to be presented.
