Commissioners approve purchase of two pickups
County commissioners bought two new pickups and entered a contract for the collection of delinquent fines, fees and court costs Monday.
The county received three bids for two trucks for the Sheriff’s Office.
John Roley’s Auto Center Levelland submitted a bid of $36,874 per truck.
The state Buy Board, through Caldwell Chevrolet, had a bid of $27,690 per vehicle.
Smith South Plains entered a bid of $27,200 for each of two Ford F-150s with four-wheel drive.
Sheriff R.C. Cheek studied the bids for a few minutes before suggesting that the county accept the one from Smith South Plains.
On a motion made by Carter, the officials voted 3-0 to buy the trucks from the low bidder.
