A city board accepted a $48,105 bid Wednesday for construction of a metal screening fence at Levelland Industrial Rail Park.
The Levelland Economic Development Corporation board accepted the bid from L&L Construction – a local company – during a regular monthly meeting.
Shawn Kirkpatrick,LEDC executive director, said the bid was the only one that was received.
The original bid was $57,276 for 1,200 feet of fence, but that was $7,000 over budget.
The 8-foot tall metal fence will be erected on the south side of the park. It will run east for 1,000 feet.
Last year, the LEDC board agreed to put up a fence after residents along Cactus Drive voiced concerns about the issues of noise and light coming from the Rail Park.
The East Commerce Drive Screening Fence will end at a stormwater pond.
