Brian Zamora testified Tuesday that he didn’t recall the details of an assault that sent him to the hospital last July.
The Levelland man offered that testimony in the trial of Robert L. Jones, who is charged with aggravated assault, a second-degree felony.
Zamora told jurors that he had stopped at the Stripes convenience store on Texas 114 early the morning of July 31 to buy a soda.
The victim said he and a friend, Cristal Landeros, were leaving the store when he backed his Dodge pickup truck into Jones’ truck.
‘Yes, I bumped into his truck,’ Zamora said. ‘I guess I wasn’t paying attention.’
The witness said he got out of his vehicle and walked over to talk to Jones. Zamora said he didn’t have a driver’s license with him at the time.
