Teenage driver strikes state trooper’s car

A state trooper escaped serious injury Wednesday night when his patrol car was hit by another vehicle.

Trooper T.J. Martin was transporting a prisoner to the county Law Enforcement Center when his vehicle was struck at 8:31 p.m. on Avenue H and Ninth Street, according to call sheets made available by police dispatchers.

Martin suffered neck pains after the wreck but did not require hospitalization.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 14-year-old girl, was not transported to the hospital from the scene.

However, the prisoner was transported to the hospital  for evaluation.

Martin had arrested a female after making a traffic stop earlier near Smyer and was transporting her to Levelland.
