Contested races develop across area

Contested local city and school board elections have developed with the closing of the filing deadline this past Friday.

Some cities and school districts will have the option to cancel their elections because of a lack of contested races.

All of the contested elections will be held May 10.

The following is a summary  of the elections.

City of Anton

Two people including the incumbent are running for mayor  in the Anton City Council election.

Mayor Blake Cate faces a challenge from Joe Carlisle.

Six people are vying for two slots on the council.

The incumbents are Greg Hodges and Garland Cooper Sr.

The challengers are Beverly Hardin, Jesse Perez, Gene Huddleston and former city manager Larry Conkin.
