County commissioners took no action Monday on appointing someone to fill the position of Precinct 4 justice of the peace.
Earlier in the meeting, the Court officially accepted Steve Moore’s letter of resignation.
Moore had served as justice of the peace since being appointed last spring by commissioners.
He cited health reasons as the basis for his resignation.
Commissioners met in closed session with Pat Cowan, county chairwoman of the Republican Party, to discuss the issue.
County Judge Larry Sprowls said commissioners want to make sure that they follow procedures if they do appoint someone to the post.
Moore was one of two Republican Party candidates running for the party nomination in the recent primary election.
He garnered the most votes while Cynthia Burt Harper came in second place.
