SPC tenure promotions annonced

South Plains College Regents granted tenure to four faculty members and approved rank promotions for 18 during Thursday’s monthly meeting.

During the meeting, regents  declared three board members, Bobby Neal, Ken Williams and Ronny Alexander unopposed for re-election and canceled this spring’s election. The three men will be sworn in after the election.

Regents also selected the local Certified Public Accounting firm of Pate Downs & Pinkerton, LLP to continue to conduct its annual audit. The firm submitted the only proposal for auditing services.
   
Regents also heard reports on graduation, finances, the scholarship gala, online institutional resumes and construction during the meeting.

The tenure recommendations  were for Rebecca Greene, a Communications instructor; Mark Hodgens, a Business and Industrial Technology instructor; Ray Hughes, an Allied Health instructor; and Jody Zuehlke, a Math and Engineering instructor.  Tenure is granted only after four years of probational employment and after meeting other criteria.

Faculty members promoted  after achieving additional academic degrees and meeting other criteria included: Mitchel Cottenoir, Science Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; Rebecca Greene, Communications Instructor to Assistant Professor; Joe Justice English Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; Julie Mosley, Allied Health Nursing Instructor to Assistant Professor; Dr. Daniel Nazworth, Fine Arts Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; Katheryn Townsend from Science Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; Anne (Tasha) Vice from Teaching/Learning Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and Jody Zuehlke from Math and Engineering Instructor to Assistant Professor.
Those earning promotions under additional assumptions included: Bart Bradshaw, Physical Education Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; Jana Daniels, Behavioral Science Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; Ray Hughes from Allied Health Nursing Instructor to Assistant Professor; Robyn Inmon, Behavioral Science Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; and Roy Donovan, Business Administration Assistant Professor to Associate Professor.


Also promoted were: Tina Lee, Physical Education Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; Alma Lopez, Math and Engineering Assistant Professor to Associate Professor; Susan Mills, Business Administration and CIS-Levelland Associate Professor to Professor; Matt Quick, Creative Arts Assistant Professor to Associate Professor and Stan Smith, Science Assistant Professor to Associate Professor.

Dr. Kelvin Sharp, President, recommended the tenure awards and promotions, noting that all the faculty members do an exceptional job for the college.
