Showers bring measurable rainfall to city and area

Showers brought the first significant rainfall in months to the area early Wednesday morning.

The heaviest rainfall was in Whiteface, where .50 of an inch fell, according to Joey Alvarez.

The area around Long ‘S’ Gin, in northwest Hockley County, received .40 of an inch of moisture, said Shirley Sears.

Downtown Levelland got .20 of an inch of rain.

Elsewhere, Smyer received .16 of an inch while .25 of an inch of rain fell in Ropesville .

Rainfall amounts for other communities included:

Anton – .30 of an inch.

Citizens-Shallowater Co-op Gin – .20 of an inch.

Morton – .20 of an inch.

Sundown – .20 of an inch.

Whitharral .20 of an inch.
