Construction of the new sports complex is on schedule and the project could be finished ahead of schedule next year.

The Levelland-Oxy Sports Complex should be finished in the first week of February 2015, said Shane Bright, construction manager with Lee Lewis Construction.

‘I don’t see any issues,’ Bright told the Levelland Community Development Corporation board Tuesday.

Ground was broken at the Equalizer Road site earlier this past winter, and the project is on track for grass to be seeded by June 1.

Workers will soon pour concrete and concrete block is coming for the concession stand.

Board member F.E. Shaheen asked what might happen to the schedule if the area receives rain.

Bright said wet weather would only hold up the pouring of concrete.

‘Rain would help as much as hurt,’ he said.
