Jose Luis Rubalcava said Friday that he will fight claims that he is ineligible to be elected to the Levelland City Council.
Rubalcava, a candidate for District C councilman, was declared ineligible Thursday by City Secretary Beth Walls.
Walls issued an Administrative Declaration of Eligibility in the matter.
She cited two requirements in making her declaration.
One is that a candidate must be a ‘qualified voter’ who lives in the city and is a registered voter.
The second one was that a candidate must have lived in District C for six months before he submitted an application to run for office.
According to city documents, Rubalcava filed as a candidate on Feb. 28. At that time he listed his address as 208 Mike St.
On March 25, he filled out an application for Texas voter registration and listed his address as 2408 Mockingbird, which is outside the city limits.
