Early voting starts Monday for contested local elections

Early voting for locally contested city council and school board elections will begin Monday, April 28, and end May 6.

All elections will be held May 10.

Two incumbent councilmen face challengers in the Levelland City Council election.

Larry Davidson, who represents residents in District A, will take on Manuel Mendez Jr. in the polls.

Billy Youngblood, the incumbent in District C, faces Jose Rubalcava.

Voters may cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at City Hall, 1709 Ave. H. The polls will then be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Six candidates are running for three positions on the Levelland school board.

Trustee Glen Smith is the only one of two incumbents to seek re-election to at-large posts.

DeEtte Edens and Abel Rodriguez are the challengers in that contest.

Missy Himango, who represents District 5, faces challenges from Tommie J. Vidales and Randy Coddington.
