Fatality occurs in Cochran County

A head-on collision Wednesday night near Whiteface claimed the life of a Morton man while injuring the driver of the second vehicle.
Lonnie Dale Wagner, 67, of Morton was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Pece Donna Schmidt.
An autopsy was ordered into the death.
The driver of the second vehicle, 21-year-old Jimmy Tanner McGlothlin of Roscoe, was transported to Lubbock’s University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
the accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. on Texas 114, about three miles west of Whiteface in Cochran County.
Wagner was traveling west in a 1998 GMC pickup while McGlothlin was eastbound in a 1999 Ford pickup.
Wagner’s truck apparently crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the left front of the Ford, causing it to roll and come to rest in the eastbound lane facing south. the GMC spun counter-clockwise and came to a stop facing south, according to a report.
Wagner was wearing his seatbelt and his airbag deployed at the time of the collision.
Firefighters from Morton and the Cochran County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, while DPS troopers from Brownfield and Levelland worked the crash scene.
