Hockley gins produce first bales

The first bales of cotton have  been ginned in Hockley County – but the cotton was grown outside the county.

Citizens-Shallowater Co-op Gin produced 12 bales of cotton Thursday morning. It was stripped in Lubbock County by Sigi Valverde.

Ropes Farmers Co-op Gin made its first bales on Friday. The cotton was grown in Terry County by Calvin Farrar.

United Cotton Growers received a module of cotton on Thursday that has not yet been ginned.
It was stripped Wednesday afternoon by Whitarral area grower Stan Sadler.

Two brothers, Michael and Donald Rhoads, stripped some cotton Thursday in Hockley County.
