Main Street’s Megahit popular with community

The Main Street ‘Megahit’  – new Christmas lights on the downtown square – has been successfully completed, a city board learned Thursday.

More than $21,000 was raised for the project, Main Street Coordinator Missy Passmore told Main Street Advisory Board members.

‘We are really excited,’ Passmore said. ‘It’s something really awesome. Almost all the lights are up.’

The project involved 25 business/building owners on the square and a total of 35 businesses within the Main Street District.

It also involved the Levelland Marigolds and a raffle fund-raiser.

More than 5,000 new lights were put up, and the lights extend past the square and part way down other streets.

‘I’ve heard lots of  comments on how pretty our downtown looks,’ said Michael Wiiest, board chairman.
