The Levelland Economic Development Corporation board appointed a new member during its monthly meeting Thursday.
The board unanimously agreed to tap businessman Tushar Bhakta for the position.
Bhakta, who manages Best Western and the Budget Inn, will succeed Steve Villanueva, whose work schedule made it difficult for him to serve.
Jody Rose’s to appoint Bhakta was endorsed by the rest of the board.
The new board member’s term will expire in June 2017.
Reflecting news from city hall, Executive Director Shawn Kirkpatrick said the $72,012 sales tax rebate that the LEDC received this month was the greatest amount ever for the corporation.
