Christmas on the Square comes to town Thursday

Christmas lights, visits with Santa Claus and a lighted parade will be some of the holiday fun featured this Thursday  in downtown Levelland.

‘We have a lot exciting things going on,’ said Missy Passmore, Main Street Program coordinator. ‘We’re excited about our parade. We’re hoping for the best turnout yet. The weather should be good.’

The annual Christmas on the Square celebration will kick off at  5:30 p.m. when Santa Claus arrives at the gazebo on the courthouse square.

Members of the Levelland Marigolds will be on hand to give children goodie bags after they meet Santa.

The Levelland ABC Choir will sing at 5:45 p.m, followed by the South and Capitol elementary choirs at 6 p.m.

A choir from Levelland Christian School will perform at 6:15 p.m.

Miss Merry Christmas will be crowned at 6:30 p.m. and a drawing for $250 in Levelland Bucks raffle will be conducted at a new downtown business, Deck the Halls at 806 Austin St.

The South Plains College Ballroom Dance team will perform at 6:45 p.m.

A lighted Christmas parade with the theme ‘Wild West Christmas’ will get under way at 7 p.m.
