The son of Jaime and Carmen Aguilar was due to be born Jan. 15, but those plans changed.
Mrs. Aguilar started having labor pains Monday night and she was admitted to Covenant Hospital Levelland at about 10 p.m.
She had a restless night and went into labor for about 12 hours before she was given an epedural.
Dr. John Hanna delivered the baby at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The newborn, who has a full head of hair, weighed seven pounds five ounces and was 20 inches long.
He was the first baby to be born this year in Hockley County.
‘I had no idea he was going to be the first,’ said his mother.
The labor leading up to the birth was difficult but the birth itself was easy, she said.
The Levelland woman said her son was resting easy and she hoped to go home Thursday.
