County commissioners accepted the resignation of a justice of the peace and appointed an elections administrator Monday.
County Judge Larry Sprowls told the Court that he had received a letter of resignation from Steve Moore, the Precinct 4 justice of the peace.
The resignation, which Sprowls received Jan. 5, went into effect Jan. 13.
Sprowls said commissioners will probably appoint someone to Moore’s post at ‘some point in time.’
In his letter to the judge, the Anton man stated that he no longer desired to hold the position and could not give it the attention needed.
Last winter, Moore said he was not running for re-election and would not serve if elected to a new term.
His name was on the ballot in November, though.
