School board President F.E. Shaheen would like another opportunity to serve the community.
Shaheen, who represents voters in District 4, is running for a third term in office.
‘We’ve got work to do,’ he said.
The incumbent said he wants to be involved in seeing that the $39.4 million bond issue is completed.
‘I want to see the construction projects compleed, and make certain all of that is on track,’ he said. ‘That’s a lot of taxpayer dollars.’
Shaheen noted that the new Lobo Stadium being built on East Ellis Street could be completed by the end of February.
That project lost some time in recent weeks because of the weather, he said, but it is gaining speed.
The decision to move the program from the Intermediate School to Cactus Academic Center this summer was a wise one.
‘That’s going to allow us to really moved forward quickly on Intermediate,’ he said. ‘We won’t have the delays and the problems that we’ve experienced at South (Elementary) trying to get everything done.’
