Larry Davidson making run for mayor
County commissioners approved a fee increase Monday for a records management and archive plan.
The fee, which will increase from $16 to $26 April March 1, will fund $200,000 for the County Clerk’s Records Management and Archive Plan.
It will impact only ‘official public records’ such as deeds, said County Clerk Irene Gumula.
Xerox is putting the records online.
So far, records dating from 1966 to the present have been scanned.
Once all of the records have been copied, they will be available online, Gumula said.
County employees continue to scan records dating back decades.
She said the charge for each page after the first page will stay the same at $4.
Commissioner J.L. ‘Whitey’ Barnett’ motion to increase the fee was endorsed by the rest of the Court.
Commissioners voted to advertise for applicants for the position of Precinct 4 justice of the peace.
County Judge Larry Sprowls noted that the incumbent, Steve Moore, won the November election but recently resigned.
