Commissioners approve new justice of the peace
County commissioners on Monday appointed Rodney Carr to the position of Precinct 4 justice of the peace.
Carr and two other applicants, Cynthia Harper and Deborah Williamson, introduced themselves to the Court.
Commissioners then went into closed session for about 11 minutes before announcing their decision.
Carr, a producer and former Anton school board member, will succeed Steve Moore.
Moore was re-elected to the position last November – after he had earlier stated that he did not intend to serve another term. His name was on the ballot, though.
Last month, Moore sent a letter of resignation to commissioners.
Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Brenda Nock had been filling in on Mooreís duties.
Carr is a former Lubbock police officer and air controller. He served for several years as a constable. He and his wife own a convenience store in Anton
