ICY MORNING ROLLOVER – The driver of this Chevrolet Suburban was not injured Thursday morning after she lost control of it on Texas 114 at Owl Road. She was headed east to Lubbock when her vehicle left the south side of the road and came to a rest on its side. A number of passers-by stopped to check on her welfare. It was snowing with temperatures in the mid-20s at the time of the accident. Two other rollovers also occurred during the morning on Texas 114, as well as a one-vehicle accident north
A second wave of snow sliced into the region Friday morning, dropping four or more inches of the white stuff and leading to numerous delays and school cancellations.
South Plains College cancelled classes for the day, as did the Levelland Independent School District.
Supt. Kelly Baggett said he decided to cancel classes at 7:30 a.m. after driving around and looking at local roads and streets.
A few teachers showed up early before returning home, he said.
ìItís tough,î he said of the decision to cancel school for the day.
Whiteface and several other area school districts including Ropes also canceled school for the day.
Some, like Anton, Smyer and Sundown, started classes later in the morning.
Despite extremely hazardous driving conditions, few accidents were reported Friday morning.
