Some elections to go forward; others to be canceled

Note: Feb. 27 was the deadline for candidates to file  for area school and city elections.
A summary of each election follows.
  
             
City of Anton
The names of four people will be on the ballot for the Anton City Council election this spring.
Three incumbents are seeking new two-year terms. They are Clay Hubble, Nicky Jeszisek and Tommy Alvarado.

Garland Cooper Sr. is the lone challenger in the contest.

     
Anton ISD
The Anton school board has the option of canceling its May election because of a lack of contests.

Incumbent Bryan Reed filed for a new term but board member Ronnie Buchanan did not.
Jenny Lopez filed as a candidate in the election.


City of Levelland
A three-way race for mayor has developed for the City of Levelland.

Mayor Waymon Jackson has two challengers: former councilman Larry Davidson and Barbra Pinner.

Another contest developed  for the District D councilmanís position.

Incumbent Joe Bill Vardeman faces a challenge from Otis Stark.

In District B, incumbent Max Ledesma faces no challenge in his re-election bid.
